Aaron has led the Rams on and off the field for the past ten years, and for that, we are incredibly appreciative, stated owner/chairman E. Stanley Kroenke. "He has influenced countless football fans over the years, and his achievements, dedication, and enthusiasm serve as an example to his colleagues, coaches, and sportsmen worldwide. Being present for one of the greatest players of all time is an honor, and we are happy that Aaron Donald, as a Rams player, will go on in NFL history forever."

Having recorded 111 sacks in 10 seasons, the Super Bowl LVI champion exits the game as one of only three players in league history to win three NFL Defensive Player of the Year titles. Six people unanimously selected him to the NFL 2010 All-Decade Team, and he recorded at least eight sacks in eight of his ten seasons.

Donald became the fastest defensive tackle in NFL history to earn 100 career sacks in Week 3 of the 2022 season. Hall of Famer John Randle (137.5) is the first player in the 100-plus sacks club to spend most of his career as a defensive tackle since individual sacks were first counted in 1982.

When Donald scored 88.5 against the Seahawks in Week 5 of that 2021 season, he broke Leonard Little's mark of 87.5 career sacks for the Rams. In addition, with 20.5 sacks in a single season in 2018, he set a record for the Rams and an NFL single-season record for a defensive lineman.

Six of Donald's ten NFL seasons saw him record double-digit sack totals, including five straight from 2017 to 2021. In addition to being selected to the Pro Bowl in each of those ten seasons, he was named to The Associated Press's First Team All-Pro seven times in a row (2015–2021) and eight times total (after winning the honor for the 2023 season). For the 2014 campaign, he was also awarded Defensive Rookie of the Year.

During 154 career games (150 starts), he recorded 111 career sacks in addition to 790 pressures, 543 total tackles (176 for loss), 256 quarterback hits, 24 forced fumbles, and 21 passes defensed. Donald played in 11 postseason games, including two Super Bowls, and recorded 34 tackles, including 19 solo, 6.0 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 51 pressures, 16 quarterback hits, 34 hurries, and one stopped interception.

"Head coach Sean McVay said, "Aaron has inspired people around him and set an example for our team for as long as I've been with the Rams." He is a superb teammate who motivates everyone around him to reach their full potential. He is also an excellent competitor who sets a real example for others.

Outside of the field, Donald was involved in several local projects and humanitarian endeavors throughout the Los Angeles area. These included contacts with the Watts Rams, character development seminars with Operation Progress, and WalkUnited LA, a program run by the United Way of Greater Los Angeles to alleviate homelessness.

Even if he is an excellent golfer, he is a better guy. He is a unique individual who personifies all the positive aspects of athletics. I will always treasure the experiences we have had and be appreciative of his unwavering dedication to our team and our game. He has had a great personal and familial impact on me."

Les Snead, a general manager, declared, "There will never be another Aaron Donald."
